Supported COVID tyranny in schools. Markowitz supported local school districts forcing schools to be closed or kids to be forced to wear masks. ♦ Markowitz stated during the 2020 candidate forum: I think in a state like Texas, it's absolutely imperative that we give local government the chance to lead, because Texas is a very diverse, very large state, geographically speaking, and we can't have a single guideline from the state, because quite frankly, a one size fits all approach would not work in Texas, and so that means we need to empower local leaders to make the best decisions for their school districts and for the their schools in general, and that may differ between schools within a district, but quite frankly, we need to allow those leaders, these local leaders, to set the guidelines and not be handcuffed by the administration and Governor Abbott mandating statewide laws that may not be applicable to the local guidelines and local needs.
